A bottle bank has been installed by Wicklow County Council in Charlesland, Greystones. The site is located between Go Gym and the Shoreline Centre Charlesland.
Cllr Stephen Stokes, who worked closely with Wicklow County Council to secure this new facility, stated: “I welcome this new bottle bank. It is greatly needed in the wider Charlesland area. I suggested a number of sites to Wicklow County Council, one of which was the selected site beside Shoreline Centre Charlesland. I am grateful to the Waste Management Section for bringing this to fruition.”
“I’m delighted to see the delivery in time for the festive season. In late December and early January, bottle banks can fill up very quickly. This will help to take the pressure off other bottle banks in the wider Greystones area.”
“We need to make it easy for people to recycle. Adding local bottle banks can make a positive impact. This will help to divert a significant amount of waste from ending up in landfills. Instead of languishing in a landfill for decades, recyclable materials can be repurposed into new products. In turn this will conserve valuable resources and reduce the strain on the environment.”
“Until the delivery of this facility, there was no bottle bank in the Charlesland area, which has thousands of residents. Hopefully this will make recycling easier for residents in Charlesland, Aldborough, Archers Wood, Eden Drive, Eden Gate, Farrankelly, Glenbrook Park, Glenheron, Hawkins Wood, Knockroe, Seabourne and more. In addition it will be handy for people coming to use Charlesland Dog Park, Go Gym and Shoreline Charlesland. It’s a good location.”
“The Greystones Municipal District has experienced significant population growth across Charlesland, Delgany, Greystones, Kilcoole, Killadreenan and Newcastle. We need more infrastructure such as recycling facilities. I will continue to press for action.”
