The HSE National Lottery Grant Scheme is now open for applications.

The annual scheme offers grants to health and social care projects across the country. Grants are available to community groups and voluntary organisations for between €300 to a maximum of €10,000, and organisations can apply for funding for more than one project.

The scheme funds one-off projects and services that improve the health and social care needs of communities, for example, local services that help people with a disability, older people, carers or disadvantaged groups.

Applicants can apply for funding to;

·       buy equipment and small fixtures and fittings like hoists, tables, and chairs, and/or

·       run camps, classes, courses, personal development training, information or events.

Funding is also available for short-term or once-off respite care for organisations that support carers.

In 2023, national funding was provided across a huge range of community projects and resources. For example, St Mary’s Junior School, Rowlagh, Dublin was awarded funding though this scheme to create a sensory room for the children attending their school. Maura O’Shea, the school’s principal said “Thanks to the grant received from the HSE National Lottery Scheme, we were able to put in a sensory room in our school. We are so delighted to have such an essential resource for the children attending our school. It is such an important and valuable resource for the children in our school”.

Organisations based in Wicklow that wish to apply for funding under the scheme should download and complete the application form on hse.ie/lotterygrants, and return this to: Catherine Cardiff, Contracts Management Support Unit (CMSU), HSE Community Healthcare East, Block B, Civic Centre, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow, A98 X329.

The deadline for receipt of applications is midday on Friday 16th February 2024.
