Hundreds of brave swimmers and supporters turn out for annual Bray Sea Swim charity event

It was a very cold day at sea on the first day of 2024, but that didn’t stop these brave swimmers from taking to Bray Beach and enduring the freezing cold conditions to raise money for charity.

Organised by Bray Lions Club, the annual Bray Sea Swim took off today with hundreds arriving in bathing suits and fancy dress alike.

Some of the charities this year included BARSS Open Group Page Homeless Support, Lakers: Meeting Special Needs, and Ardmore Rovers FC.

Bray Sea Swim wrote on their social media pages: “Huge thanks to all the brave swimmers and their supporters today who turned out in such numbers. We are very grateful for our fantastic lifeguards, the @OrderofMaltaIRL, @GardaTraffic, and our new hosts @martelloBray for all their help.”

The annual swim has raised over €350,000 since it began in 1984.
