Top Wicklow GAA player Mark Jackson selected for NFL International Player Pathway program

The 25-year-old Wicklow man is one of four athletes selected for NFL’s International Player Pathway program, which aims to give elite international athletes the opportunity to compete at the NFL level.

Jackson, who is the youngest GAA goalkeeper to pass 100 points and is well on the way to becoming one of the highest-scoring goalkeepers ever, will join Monaghan’s Rory Beggan in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine – where scouts and coaches from 32 teams will get a closer look at prospective NFL talent.

The two will be joined by Down’s Charlie Smyth and Galway’s Darragh Leader.

The athletes will spend a week in Florida, practicing their kicking skills in anticipation for the NFL Combine, which takes place from February 27th to March 4th.
