Wicklow couple banned from owning bully dogs after admitting to cropping puppies’ ears

A couple from Rathnew have admitted responsibility for having their American Bully puppies’ ears cut off.

The couple have since been banned for life from owning American Bully dogs, have been fined €3000, and ordered to pay total costs of €3,486.55.

ISPCA Chief Inspector Conor Dowling found the puppies at the residence following a report from a concerned member of the public on the 15th of December 2021.

Mr. Dowling stated that, upong finding the puppies, he noticed that their ears had been removed, leaving raw wounds that had been stitched with twine.

One of the owners told Mr. Dowling that he had purchased the puppies without ears, however, in later interviews it was revealed that the man had organised the cropping of the puppies’ ears.

Both puppies have since been rehomed responsibly.
