Woman with fractured ankle rescued on the Wicklow Way trail

The Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue team and Glen of Imaal Irish Red Cross Mountain Rescue responded to their 4th call-out this year on the 7th of January.

It’s been a busy year already for the mountain rescue teams, who have braved the windy, cold, and often wet weather in order to rescue injured people in some of Co. Wicklow’s most beautiful, albeit tricky, areas.

Last Sunday, both teams were called to The Wicklow Way, near Laragh, to assist a woman who had come into difficulty after sustaining a fractured ankle.

Both teams rushed to the scene and immediately went about identifying the injury and treating the patient with the help of their mountain rescue medics. The patient was then carried off the hill and transported by ambulance to the nearest medical facility to receive further care.
