Parents and students protest lack of school places in Greystones

A demonstration was held last Friday by parents who are concerned by the ongoing issues of school-place shortages in Greystones.

Both parents and students gathered to raise concerns to the lack of progress on delivering a permanent building for Greystones Community College.

Planning permission has also been sought to expand the campus at Colaiste Chraobh Abhann and at Templecarrig, but construction has yet to get underway.

The issue came to a head last October when indications suggested there was a shortage of 70 places.

Despite the provision of two additional classrooms in GCC, there are still approximately 30 students without a place for this coming September.

“Well done to all the students and parents that came out today to demand action on the new build for Greystones Community College!” wrote Jennifer Whitmore no her social media pages.
