Sinéad O’Connor among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Sinead O'Connor

The pop icon’s name has been put into the hat for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Fifteen other artists have been nominated for the coveted Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, including Cher, Oasis, Mariah Carey, and Ozzy Osbourne.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will take place in Cleavland, Ohio, later this year, once the finalists are chosen by a combination of industry experts and a public vote.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has come under criticism in recent years for featuring acts that wouldn’t best be described as rock n’ roll, however the inclusion of Sinéad O’Connor among this year’s nominees feels nothing short of appropriate.

Sinéad O’Connor, who sadly passed away last July, released her first album The Lion and the Cobra in 1987. Artists may become eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first record.
