Two men arrested and quantity of cannabis seized in Carnew

Gardaí made the discovery following routine policing enquiries in the Carnew area yesterday, Friday the 16th of February.

A detective from Bray stopped a vehicle in the Carnew area, where they discovered approximately €20k worth of cannabis following a search of the car.

With assistance from Gardaí at Gorey and Arklow Garda Stations, two adult males from the car were arrested and brought to a Garda Station in Co. Wicklow, where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The men have since been charged to appear in the district court next month.

A comprehensive file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and all seized exhibits will undergo analysis at the Forensic Science Ireland.

This is the latest arrest in the Gardaí’s ‘Operation Tara’, aimed at disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks in the Dublin and Wicklow areas.
