Wicklow singer Amy Barrett featuring on single “Ireland You’re My Home”

The Choral Scholars of University College Dublin have released ‘Ireland You’re My Home’ the lead single from their upcoming EP this week, featuring soloist Amy Barrett from Dunlavin.

The song was written by Choral Scholars alumna and singer-songwriter, Megan O’Neill, and arranged for the choir by Dr Desmond Earley, artistic director of the Choral Scholars.

It’s a beautiful and moving song about only fully appreciating how much home means to you when you are far away from it. ‘Ireland You’re My Home’ reflects on missing Ireland, the people, culture, scenery, and even the Irish rain.

However, this emotional song could resonate with anyone who is away from home in any place in the world.

Amy says “It was a massive honour to be asked to sing this solo. The choir realised the power of the song after a few live performances. It really connected with people and there were always a few tears in the audience, as we all know family or friends who are away from home”.

Amy continues to write her own songs and also collaborates on songs with other artists.

Listen to the single on Spotify or Apple Music.
