Detection dogs Milo and Grace assist in seizure of cannabis bound for Wicklow address

The cannabis and cigarettes had a combined estimated value of €920,000.

45.4 kgs of herbal cannabis and 14,000 cigarettes were discovered by two vigilant detection dogs, Milo and Grace, and were seized by Revenue officers yesterday following a risk profiling operation.

The cannabis, with an estimated street value of €910,000, was discovered in parcels from the USA, Cananda, Spain, and Thailand, and the parcels were bound for addresses in Wicklow, Dublin, Roscommon, Meath, Kerry, and Limerick.

The cigarettes, with a value of around €11,000, were bound for addresses in Kilkenny, Tipperary, and Northern Ireland. The cigarettes had been sent from Poland and China.

This seizure is the latest in Revenue’s ongoing mission to target the smuggling of drugs and other illegal items into Ireland. Investigations are ongoing.
