Wicklow Businesswomen Brave Snowstorm to Inspire Inclusion at Network Ireland’s International Women’s Day Celebration

Dozens of resilient businesswomen defied a snowstorm to gather on Friday, March 1, to celebrate International Women’s Day at a lunchtime event organised by Network Ireland Wicklow.

This year’s celebration centred around the theme “Inspire Inclusion,” reflecting a commitment to building a diverse and inclusive environment for all.

The attendees were treated to a lineup of speakers supporting the theme of inclusion. Pam Beacom and Tony Ryan from the Blue Dolphins Special Olympics Club shared insights into how the club creates an inclusive atmosphere for athletes and their families. Deputy Jennifer Whitmore discussed her journey into political life and emphasised the importance of increased female representation in politics. Stephanie Roche, the renowned Ireland and Shamrock Rovers striker, shed light on the importance of inclusion for women and girls in the realm of sports.

Network Ireland members took the opportunity to showcase their diverse array of products and services, adding an entrepreneurial flair to the celebration. The day culminated in a raffle that raised just over €2,000 for the Blue Dolphins Special Olympics Club, underlining the Wicklow communitys commitment to supporting inclusivity initiatives.

Dawn Leane, the President of Network Ireland Wicklow, said “International Women’s Day is an opportunity to spotlight the challenges that women face. This year’s theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’ is particularly meaningful to me, given my background in diversity and inclusion. It expands the conversation beyond the usual corporate discussions. Our fantastic committee, members, and sponsors collaborated to ensure it was a day to remember.”

The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of fostering inclusion across various aspects of life.
