ReWild Wicklow and Tidy Towns give Wicklow Gap junction a makeover

ReWild put their gloves on and got to work over the Easter Bank Holiday, giving a much-needed makeover to the Wicklow Gap junction.

In the latest joint project by ReWild Wicklow and Tidy Towns (Laragh and Glendalough), over 50 trees were planted at the Wicklow Gap junction at Glendalough. The types of trees planted included rowan, hawthorn, hazel, and birch.

ReWild Wicklow and Tidy Towns have been working together across various localities to plant native trees and hedgerows in areas that require some TLC.

Social democrats’ Danny Alvey wrote “With support from the NPWS, we planted 50 of our best trees in protected mesh cages on the land cleared as part of widening the junction a few years back.”

Some past projects of ReWild and Tidy Towns have included work at the riverbank in Wicklow Town, Union Lane in Rathdrum, and many more. You can keep up to date with ReWild here.
