Wicklow is now the 2nd most expensive county for joint home buyers

The latest figures by Swticher.ie have found that Wicklow is among the least affordable counties for first time joint home buyers.

The latest study has shown the most affordable counties to buy homes for first time buyers, with the median price for first-time buyers in the 12 months to December being €340,000.

The ‘affordability index’ employed by Swticher.ie to assess the affordability of certain counties accumulates its data based on how long it would take to save up for a deposit in each region.

Shockingly, it was found that it would take 13.5 years to save up for a deposit in Co. Wicklow.

Wicklow was also, unsurprisingly, voted among the least affordable for solo buyers as well.

The five most affordable counties for joint buyers are Leitrim, Longford, Roscommon, Sligo, and Mayo.

The five least affordable are Dun Laoghaire, Wicklow, Dublin, Kildare, and South Dublin. Shockingly, it is estimated to take 27.9 years to save for a deposit for a home in Dun Laoghaire.

The five most affordable counties for solo buyers were Roscommon, Longford, Leitrim, Limerick, and Sligo.

The five least affordable for solo buyers were Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Wicklow, Galway, and Kildare.
