It is with deep sadness that the family of Patrick McInerney announces his death on Jan 29th, 2022 at the age of 87yrs. He was most recently a resident of Wicklow Town, previously of Dalkey, Co. Dublin. Pat died very suddenly and unexpectedly whilst on holiday in Ballina, Australia, with his daughter Clare.
An adored and wonderful Dad, he will forever be lovingly and sadly mourned by Teresa, his wife of 60 years, daughters Maeve, Clare and Helen, and his only son Niall. His 3 grandchildren Cian, Ciara and Aoife will miss the funny sense of humour and constant teasing of their self-proclaimed No. 1 Grandad. His surviving cycling buddies, especially those of several decades Terry, Michael, and Seamus, plus in recent years Iain, will sorely miss his company. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Michael and survived by his sisters Ann and Eileen.
Pat was a self-educated polymath, a retired businessman and an ex-racing cyclist. He was an eternal optimist who felt he had lived a charmed life. A shy, kind, gentle, intelligent, thoughtful and funny man, his absence will be heartfelt by all those who knew him.
The circumstances of his death have meant that his funeral has been delayed and will now take place on Tuesday, 19th April, at 10.30 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Putland Road, Newcourt, Bray, Co. Wicklow. No flowers. What he would wish for most is to be remembered fondly.
Date of Death: Saturday 29th January 2022
